PEOPLE SKILLS
Program Overview:
The purpose of this seminar is to develop the ability to work more effectively
with different types of people through an understanding of social style preferences
and the importance of flexibility for mutually beneficial relationships.
The things that interfere with task accomplishment most often stem from "relationship
tension” or the inability of different types of people to work together
smoothly and without conflict.
Audience:
Supervisors, managers, exempt or non-exempt people who must
produce results through other people.
Program Content:
The foundation of personal and professional success lies
in understanding self, understanding others and realizing the impact
of personal behavior on the people around us. People Skills uses
the Carlson Learning Company’s DiSC Personal Profile System
to build this understanding. The objectives of this program are to
learn the effects of the following concepts:
-
Style Awareness:
Predicting styles of others and understanding strengths and weaknesses
of each style. Each participant learns his/her own style and develops
a style-based strategy for difficult business relationships.
-
Importance of Dealing with Others:
Identifies style-specific strategies for addressing the various styles
of others within day-to-day work situations.
-
Flexibility: The Key to Interpersonal Effectiveness.
Address the challenges of working through change and the skills needed
for identifying and working with various styles, especially when under
stress.
-
Planning the Style-Based Strategy:
Allows the participant to apply style-specific strategies to current, challenging,
difficult relationships.
Methods of Instruction:
This seminar is highly interactive. The facilitator introduces
the people skills concepts and the participants practice the skills
using exercises from the course manual.
