Mamorei Farm
Mamorei Farm is located about 2 hours southeast of Asunción. The farm has been the property of a family who lived in Asunción for at least 30 years. A local family lived on the farm and managed the day to day operations. Over the years the two families have merged - as god parents for the children and partners in running the farm. Several years ago they transformed the farm into an environmental education and conference center. We had the treat of spending a relaxing and wonderful day at Mamorei Farm - and learning about the traditional foods and herbal remedies of Paraguay.

![]() Impressive cacti. The farm was full of wonderful horticultural plots and many flowers were in bloom. |
![]() We were fed a wonderful lunch with three types of sopa Paraguaya (a type of corn bread) wonderful salads and a beef soup with delicious corn meal dumplings. Needless to say, when we were told to go and enjoy a siesta, Gary took it seriously. (Rose was in another hammock nearby). |
![]() The group enjoyed a vigorous game of volleyball. The hill in the background is part of a national park. It is the core of an ancient volcano. Local legend says there is a giant armadillo inside the mountain. |
![]() Anna Rose learned how to shape chipa, a delicious Paraguayan bread. You can be creative and she choose to make hers in the shape of an "A". They were baked for us and we ate them while they were hot. |
